The Centre for Essential Skills (CES) and Department of Civil Engineering IIT Jammu successfully organized a Two-Day Training Program on River Modelling and Inflow Forecasting System for Hydro Power Projects, held from October 21-22, 2024, in collaboration with Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited (CVPPL).
This program was tailored for engineers from CVPPL involved in various hydro power projects across Jammu & Kashmir, with 24 participants from different project sites attending the sessions. Coordinated by Dr. Chembolu Vinay, the program featured lectures and hands-on sessions led by experts from IIT Hyderabad, IIT Jammu, and IIT Roorkee.
- Day 1:
- Inauguration ceremony and participant introductions
- Sessions by Dr. R. Maheswaran (IIT Hyderabad) on:
- Forecasting basics
- Inflow forecasting
- Afternoon sessions led by Dr. Vinay:
- River surveying equipment
- Hydrodynamic modeling
- Hands-on demonstration of modeling software
- Day 2:
- Case studies on inflow forecasting by Dr. Maheswaran
