This course will cover
River Hydraulics: Turbulence in rivers, velocity and bed shear stress distribution, velocity distribution over smooth and rough boundaries, hydrodynamic equations for river processes, flow resistance in rivers: theory and practice
Sediment Transport: sediment properties, terminal velocity and near bed hydraulics, sediment load in rivers, incipient motion and Shields diagram, bed forms in rivers.
River Morphology: The fluvial system, erosion and deposition processes in rivers, river planform, morphological dynamics and bank erosion.
River Training Works: necessity and types of river training works, field applications
River Modeling: numerical and physical modeling of rivers, hydrodynamics and morphological modeling of rivers.
