The Center for Essential Skills, IIT Jammu, successfully hosted a two-day workshop on “Modern Pedagogical Techniques for Student-Centric Learning in Engineering Education” under the ANRF (SERB) – INAE Outreach Programs for NE, J&K, and Ladakh regions, from February 24 to 25, 2025. The workshop aimed to equip educators with innovative teaching methodologies to enhance Teaching-Learning styles in educational Institutes.
The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Sivaji Chakravorti, Vice-President of INAE, Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director of IIT Jammu, Prof. C. S. Upadhyay from IIT Kanpur, Prof. Shyam Narayan Lal from IIT Jammu, Prof. Abhay Sharma, Dean of Education and Outreach at IIT Jammu, and Dr. Chembolu Vinay, PIC of CES, IIT Jammu. The event welcomed 35 participants, including faculty members and research scholars from Government Degree Colleges in Srinagar, Sopore, Pulwama, Doda, Ramnagar, and Jammu, as well as representatives from the Islamic University of Science & Technology Kashmir, Bhagwant University Rajasthan, and IIT Jammu.


The workshop featured six expert-led sessions covering topics such as teaching-learning styles, cultivating essential soft skills, learner’s development and educational psychology, effective use of teaching aids, leadership in pedagogy, and inclusive and equitable education. Additionally, a breakout session engaged participants in discussions on assessment and evaluation, hybrid learning, enhancing student attention, and cognitive aspects of pedagogy. On the second day, participants presented their key learnings and insights gained from these sessions.
The event was enriched by distinguished speakers, including Prof. C. S. Upadhyay from IIT Kanpur, Prof. Sivaji Chakravorti from INAE, and IIT Jammu faculty members Prof. Abhay Sharma, Dr. Sanchita Srivastava, Dr. Gaurav Ashok Bhaduri, Dr. Amitash Ojha, Prof. Bijoy Boruah, and Prof. Shyam Narayan Lal. Their expert insights provided valuable perspectives on modern pedagogy and its role in engineering education. This interactive workshop fostered collaboration among educators and provided them with modern pedagogical strategies to enhance student-centric learning in higher education institutions.
