Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering
(Minor Area Certification Program)
Description
Rivers are life line to the mankind providing essential services at every stage. There is growing
necessity to understand and manage the river systems due to river corridor development activities and
also for effective utilization of water resources. It is therefore a challenging task for understanding
the river behavior, flow hydraulics and sediment transport and their implications while planning the
hydraulic structures and addressing fluvial disasters.
This minor program on Hydraulics and Water
Resources Engineering aims to bring together fundamental and advanced knowledge required for
understanding the river processes at different scales.
After participating in this program, the student
will be able to understand the open channel flow processes, design procedures of some hydraulic
structures, irrigation canals, and river engineering works and apply the knowledge for addressing
practical/field level problems
Outcomes
Understand the open channel flow processes
Design procedures of some hydraulic structures,
Designing Irrigation canals,
Understanding the working of River engineering
Applying the knowledge for addressing practical/field level problems
