Skill Development Program – Phase II (AVSAR Scheme) Concludes at District Reasi

The Centre for Essential Skills (CES), IIT Jammu, successfully concluded the Phase II of the Skill Development Program under the AVSAR Scheme in District Reasi. This phase included a diverse array of five domain-specific workshops aimed at imparting specialized skills to the participants. The program was thoughtfully curated to address local and contemporary needs, ensuring impactful learning outcomes.

Workshops and Key Highlights

  1. Tourism and Hospitality Management (18th – 21st July 2024)
    Participants explored design thinking for tourism campaigns, customer service techniques, career opportunities in tourism, and sustainable tourism practices. Interactive sessions, role-playing, and hands-on assignments were led by Mr. Rahul Podiwal, Mr. Gagandeep (FCI, Jammu), and Dr. Nidhi Pathania.
  2. Agri-Business (23rd – 26th July 2024)
    This workshop focused on entrepreneurship in agriculture, covering topics like biofertilizers, exotic vegetable cultivation, vertical farming, floriculture, and beekeeping. Renowned experts like Dr. Gurdev Chand, Dr. Brijeshwar Singh, Dr. Anil Bhushan, Dr. Banarsi Lal, and others conducted practical demonstrations and shared success stories.
  3. Marketing (28th – 31st July 2024)
    From consumer behavior to neuromarketing, participants learned to create social media campaigns, understand digital marketing, and effectively market products. Sessions were led by experts including Dr. Amitash Ojha, Dr. Bharti Slathia, and Dr. Kulvinder Kaur (IIM Jammu).
  4. Basic Electrical Skills for Non-Engineering Students (2nd – 5th August 2024)
    This workshop provided foundational knowledge of electrical systems and basic wiring of houses, specifically catering to Non-Engineering students, delivered through interactive sessions and hands-on learning by Dr. Anup Shukla and Team.
  5. Film-Making & Vlogging (7th – 10th August 2024)
    Participants delved into scriptwriting, cinematography, video editing, and vlogging. Led by Mr. Divy Bhagia, the workshop emphasized practical skills, including storyboarding, lighting techniques, and editing.

Program Objectives and Outcomes

The workshops were designed to equip participants with industry-relevant skills, foster entrepreneurship, and prepare them for diverse career opportunities. Experts from prestigious institutions ensured high-quality training, while CES provided robust logistical and academic support to maximize the learning experience.
